North Park Primary School – Curriculum Vision
At North Park Primary School, our curriculum is built on our core belief that all children can achieve and grow together in friendship. We are committed to providing a rich, inclusive and stimulating learning experience that nurtures curiosity, celebrates individuality and ensures every child is equipped with the knowledge, skills and personal qualities they need to thrive—both now and in the future.
Our Vision
We aim to create a vibrant curriculum that:
1. Inspires a Love of Learning
We want every child to become a motivated and enthusiastic learner. Our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity, encourage questioning and develop resilient, independent thinkers who take pride in their achievements.
2. Promotes High Expectations for All
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Our curriculum supports pupils to aim high, challenge themselves and make strong progress regardless of their starting point. Through carefully sequenced learning, we ensure that knowledge is built securely and meaningfully over time.
3. Embeds Relationships, Resilience, Respect and Responsibility
Our curriculum reflects the values that define North Park:
- Relationships—working collaboratively, showing kindness, and valuing others.
- Resilience — staying positive, persevering through challenges, and learning from setbacks.
- Respect—celebrating diversity, demonstrating good manners, and appreciating different viewpoints.
- Responsibility—taking ownership of learning, behaviour, and contributions to the school community.
These values underpin everything we do, shaping a positive, nurturing environment.
4. Ensures Inclusion and Equity
No child is left behind. Our curriculum is designed to meet diverse needs and ensure that barriers to learning are removed wherever possible. We provide targeted support, enrichment opportunities and adaptive teaching so that all pupils—regardless of background or need—can experience success.
5. Provides Broad, Balanced and Purposeful Learning
We offer a curriculum that is:
- Broad, giving pupils experiences across all subjects.
- Balanced, ensuring academic, artistic, physical and personal development.
- Purposeful, connecting learning to real-life contexts so pupils understand its relevance and value.
We want children to see themselves as historians, scientists, readers, writers, mathematicians, artists and citizens of the world.
6. Builds Strong Foundations for the Future
Our curriculum equips children with essential knowledge, social skills and positive learning behaviours. By the time they leave North Park, pupils will have the confidence, resilience and skills needed to succeed in the next stage of their education and contribute positively to society.
Our Commitment
We will continue to develop a curriculum that:
- Reflects our community and celebrates its strengths.
- Values creativity, collaboration and critical thinking.
- Embeds safeguarding, wellbeing and positive relationships.
- Prepares children not only academically, but morally, socially and emotionally.
Curriculum Subject Overviews and EYFS planning
This page will take you to the curriculum intent and planning for each of the subject areas in school, as well as for the EYFS stage.
English and Mathematics are the core subjects in the curriculum at North Park. In addition we place great importance on the key areas of Science, RE, PE, and PSHCE, which are delivered on a weekly basis. The remaining curriculum areas – Computing, History, Geography, Art, DT, Music and MFL (KS2) are planned to ensure termly delivery in most instances. Curriculum planning is designed to build upon the early skills and knowledge children develop in the EYFS stage of school.
Curriculum skills and knowledge are taught progressively, in line with the National Curriculum requirements, and are embedded within the curriculum as a whole; opportunities are planned to allow pupils to apply and develop key skills across the curriculum to help pupils deepen their skills, knowledge and understanding. We plan a range of opportunities for enhancement and enrichment to ensure the curriculum is engaging and meaningful.
